Bogen’s Arc for Partisan Arts
Alexander Bogen was a courageous, multifaceted and unique visual artist, a decorated leader of partisans during World War II, a key player in 20th century Yiddish culture, and one of the trailblazers for art education and artists’ associations in the emerging state of Israel.

The art, life and heritage of Alexander Bogen epitomize unique testimony and inspiration for creative expression as a reality-changing, even life-saving, social activism.
The Bogen’s Arc for Partisan Arts is dedicated to the preservation, expansion and stewardship of Alexander Bogen’s legacy and art, and supports a variety of initiatives and actions that embody the partisan, humane and multidisciplinary approach that Bogen exemplified in his life, art and public endeavours.
Mission
The Foundation fosters the legacy of Bogen’s life and work, sustains it and expands its accessibility to research communities and the general public.
The Foundation supports inter-disciplinary collaborations that cultivate the use of art as an engine of social change.
Encourages innovative approaches to the study and preservation of immigrant cultures in the 20th century.
Promotes philanthropic initiatives that connect cultures, activism, sustainability and creativity.

In my work i was not content with the brilliant light and the blue skies of the landscape
I FELT A SPIRITUAL NEED TO EXPRESS A MORE HUMANE UNIVERSAL MESSAGE
I could not remain indifferent to what was happening in the contemporary world.
In my paintings and sculptures I saw a way to bear witness to the pain and murders on the one hand, and my belief in humanist values on the other.
The tragic events and the destruction all over the world brought me associations from the dark past.
Among them are black stains, petro-dollars engulfing the oceans and destroying a wondrous world …
This is my outcry against the destruction of people and nature.
